Along the water’s edge in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg is where classic elegance meets historic charm. Having opened in the 1920’s, the Vinoy offers splendid service and amenities while still holding onto the old Florida charm. The couple wanted a classic and traditional style, and so the ceremony was held in the Tea Garden, the cocktail hour was held on the deck outside the Sunset Ballroom, and the reception was inside the Sunset Ballroom.

Because the couple chose a cocktail hour and reception space that was about five minutes away from the ceremony venue, they wanted to provide their guests with transportation. We reached out to Star Trolley to give guests an unforgettable journey through downtown St. Petersburg to the Vinoy Sunset Ballroom. The couple also opted to have a Rolls Royce pick them up from the ceremony site to different places around town to have their pictures taken and then join guests at the cocktail hour. This was a lengthy discussion with our couple as we wanted to make sure everyone arrived at the cocktail hour safely and on time, and the logistics of including two different modes of transportation were clearly defined in the final timeline. We designed a well thought out timeline which allowed flexibility in case the trolley or Rolls Royce hit any traffic downtown. This ensured time for both modes of transportation to get to the cocktail hour and reception in a timely manner.

The couple wanted a classic and traditional look for their wedding. Their color palette consisted of whites, creams, and greenery with touches of black. We worked diligently with the couple to create a handcrafted invitation suite that really set the tone for the rest of the wedding design. After solidifying the color palette, we met the couple at 2Birds studio for a centerpiece mockup. This allowed the couple to fine tune any floral and candle decor they had envisioned for their day. The gold rimmed chargers, gold chiavari chairs, and gold flatware from Gabro really established the classic and traditional look along with the gold gilded mirror seating chart. Combining the temporary floral arrangements and black tapered candles with the historic aspects of the Vinoy truly created an unforgettable night for everyone.
